Metria Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy explains how the Metria iOS App, its Widget, and exports you initiate handle information. It does not govern external sharing destinations you choose, Apple Health, iCloud device backups, the App Store, or TestFlight. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

Metria uses this data to provide features you choose to use, including Food Log, today's summary, weight and nutrition trends, Daily Check-in, Weekly Review, Pattern Explorer, Food Detail Intelligence, Frequent Foods, Meal Patterns, and the Widget.

Insights and Patterns are generated from defined data sources, aggregation methods, sample thresholds, and rules. They describe trends or associations in recorded data. They are not used for medical diagnosis, psychological assessment, moral judgment, or causal claims.

4. Apple Health and System Permissions

HealthKit

Metria requests access to applicable Apple Health data only after you choose to connect it. The current product implementation uses read-only access. You can change authorization at any time in iOS Settings or Apple Health.

Metria does not sell HealthKit data or use it for ad targeting, data brokerage, or purposes unrelated to health features. Deleting Metria's local data does not revoke HealthKit authorization or delete original Apple Health records. Local copies may reappear if you later authorize and import the data again.

Camera and Photos

The camera is used only when you choose to scan a food barcode or nutrition label, or capture a meal. The system photo picker gives the App access only to photos you select. Manual logging remains available if you decline these permissions.

5. Local Storage, Security, and Backups

Core records are stored in the App's local database and files, while preferences are stored in local device settings. The Widget reads a lightweight snapshot through the same App Group. Metria uses iOS file protection to reduce exposure while the device is locked.

Metria currently has no proprietary cloud backup or automatic cross-device sync. Whether App data is included in a system backup is determined by iOS, Apple services, and your device settings.

6. Exports and External Sharing

You can create a CSV or JSON export and choose a destination in the iOS share sheet. Metria cleans up the temporary export file after sharing completes, is canceled, or fails.

Copies saved to Files, sent to another App, or delivered to a recipient are governed by that service and your actions. Metria cannot remotely delete those external copies. An export is a portable copy of the categories and date range you select; it is not a complete database restore format.

7. Delete All Local Data

In the App, open More → Privacy & Security → Delete All Local Data. After reviewing the scope and confirming again, you can delete:

• Food Logs, weight, nutrition, Daily Check-ins, plans, and saved foods;
• App preferences, activation events, and local feature state;
• Local meal photos and recognition feedback;
• The Widget snapshot in the App Group and pending local notifications.

This action cannot be undone. It does not delete original Apple Health records, revoke system permissions, or delete files you already shared outside the App.

8. Third-Party Components and TestFlight

Third-party components currently bundled with the App include SnapKit, SwifterSwift, DGCharts, and FloatingPanel. They support layout, interface utilities, and chart presentation. The current code audit found no use of these components for remote advertising, user profiling, or uploading health records.

System frameworks include HealthKit, Vision, Core ML, and WidgetKit. If you use a TestFlight build, Apple may process diagnostics, usage information, and feedback you submit under its TestFlight terms, and may provide relevant information to the developer. Avoid including unnecessary health values in feedback.

9. Data Retention

On-device records remain until you delete individual records, use “Delete All Local Data,” or uninstall the App. Recognition feedback is limited to 500 records. Temporary export files are removed after system sharing completes, is canceled, or fails. Retention of system backups and externally shared copies is determined by the relevant system or recipient.

10. Policy Changes and Contact

If Metria later adds servers, accounts, diagnostic uploads, new third-party SDKs, or other data uses, we will review those practices before enabling them and update this policy, the Privacy Manifest, and App Store privacy disclosures.

Material changes will be communicated through App release notes, the product page, or another appropriate channel, and the effective date on this page will be updated.
